When Hunny K and I first came up with the idea of creating a Dinky Ninja Bear plush, we didn’t know where to begin. All we did know was that we wanted to make a friend that could go with us wherever we go – a creation birthed from the Heart, as well as an ode to all the toys/collectibles/art we’ve ever had and loved until now.

Neither of us knew where to begin, or even how to start. But sometimes not knowing what to expect is the best way to handle a situation. So we just pushed forward and started creating. And after many rough sketches, pricked fingers, and a room-full of Dinky Ninja Bear prototypes later; we came up with a simple, finished plush “look” that *yatta! won us over.

So where do we go from here? Well, we just spotted a few of our plush Bears trotting about in Europe. Some on the surf in California. And more frolicking around in Malaysia. And we can only hope that it grows from there. And if it just so happens that these little plushies bring a little Joy in to your Life (plushies have a way of doing that, don’t they?), then consider our job done. Its what keeps us so motivated and proud to do what we do.

We also decided it would be best to donate some of the proceeds we receive to specific Charities. Therefore, we are pleased to announce that $1.00 from each Dinky Ninja Bear type you adopt will go to the corresponding Organization listed below. Here is the breakdown of Organizations:

Brown: Animal Humane Society – A non-profit organization which promotes respect for animal life, fosters positive animal-human bonds and works to eliminate animal homelessness and abuse.

Green: World Wildlife Federation – The leading organization in wildlife conservation and endangered species.

Pink: Susan G. Komen for the Cure - Dedicated to education and research about causes, treatment, and the search for a cure for Breast Cancer.

Light Blue: Surf Rider Foundation – The Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit environmental organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world’s oceans, waves and beaches for all people, through conservation, activism, research and education.

Red: San Francisco AIDS Foundation – The San Francisco AIDS Foundation provides leadership to prevent new HIV infections. Linking community experience with science, the Foundation develops ground-breaking prevention programs and bold policy initiatives to promote health and create sustainable progress against HIV.

Gray: UNICEF – the driving force that helps build a world where the rights of every child are realized. UNICEF was created with this purpose in mind – to work with others to overcome the obstacles that poverty, violence, disease and discrimination place in a child’s path. We believe that we can, together, advance the cause of humanity.

Purple: American Cancer Society – the nationwide, community-based, voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service

Dark Blue: Kearny Street Workshop – KSW’s mission is to produce and present art that enriches and empowers Asian Pacific American communities and to achieve a more just society by connecting Asian Pacific American (APA) artists with community members to give voice to our cultural, historical, and contemporary issues.
